Building communities through the act of giving

Written by admin. Posted in FrontpageNews

giftdonation06The International School Seychelles (ISS) holds true to its motto ‘You are not born for yourself, but for the world’ as it seeks to build relationships with other schools and children in the country.

In line with this, primary teachers and pupils from the school recently presented gifts to La Rosière primary pupils.

This school’s activity lays claim to emphasis on the development of the whole child.  It believes that the act of giving and sharing gives children a powerful boost in self-esteem as they realise that they can make a difference in someone’s life.  The teachers work with the children to make giving and sharing a natural part of what they do all with the aim of growing them into kind, charitable and giving adults.

This activity allowed students through the help of their parents to flex their charitable muscles and to experience the joy of giving.  The excitement and gratitude on the La Rosière children’s faces were priceless.

The year 2015 saw the ISS engage with special needs coordinators, history teachers and the Bel Ombre primary school to share expertise and experience.  The school plans to continue exploring other opportunities to work with other educational partners in the community towards the goal of quality education for all.

Early Childhood Christmas Show – ‘A Little Bird Told Me’

Written by admin. Posted in FrontpageNews

P1010623 CollageA new spin on the Nativity tale took the Early Childhood section on a journey to Bethlehem via the Seychelles.  Some classes were dressed as a variety of local birds and animals including Madame Paton, Chauve Souris and Madagascar Fodies.

Others acted out the Nativity in the traditional manger and a flock of birds had adventures with angels, stars, camels, wise men and sheep.  The dancing and singing were superb and the colourful show was a delight to parents and friends in the audience.

Many thanks to the EC staff for working so hard with their classes to put on this show and to the P.T.A. who produced tickets and helped to decorate the vast stage area.

ISS Year 7-10 Parents Afternoon Postponed – 03/12/15

Written by admin. Posted in FrontpageNews

Dear Parents,
We have had to postpone the parents afternoon today.
This is due to the emails not getting to a percentage of our community as well as other events including the election making it difficult for parents to come.
We will be holding it after the holidays on Wednesday 6th January.
We will move the bookings you have make to the new date so you do not have to book again.
Again please accept my apology.
I hope you have a good break and look forward to meeting you at the parents evening in the new year.
