Clean up the world

Written by admin. Posted in FrontpageNews

ISS wildlife club members plus some Year 6 children spent Saturday morning on the beach at Anse Forbans with a big team of people from the local Community group and supported by the Hilton Doubletree hotel. This beach we had already cleaned up a few months ago and it was so disappointing to see how much rubbish had been dumped or washed up on the beach in such a short time.. Oceanproject sorted the litter and provided the beach cleaners with a well earned drink and snack after an hours intensive litter collection.

The next beach clean up will be on May 19th at 9.30am at Anse Gaulette. Meeting opposite the football pitch at Baie lazare – please come along and join in

ISS students in Gymnastics competition

ISS students participated in the first Elite Gymnastics club competition at Roche Caiman. The girls performed on the vault, bar, beam and floor. Emma Mothee the director of the Elite Gymnastic club, had organised the competition and had invited former gymnast Montserrat Ubia, an international Spanish gymnastic coach and Olympic judge to assist with this. 5 other judges were trained to judge gymnastic competitions and the International school was represented by Ms Ansell who is a qualified gymnastic coach and former gymnast. The long term aim of the competition is to improve the quality of gymnastic training and performance to allow Seychelles gymnasts to compete internationally in the future.

Easter! It’s the time of year for that parade again.

HATS! and weren’t they wonderful. From berets to sombreros, homburgs to Native American feathers but as usual the bunnies and chicks held sway and outnumbered the large flock of sheep. The classes circumnavigated the school grounds before assembling to sing a rousing medley of hat themed ditties. Parents joined in and then took their children to view the’ eggcellent’ decorated egg display. The event culminated with a Book Fair presented by the Giraffe book store allowing the children and parents to choose some new reading material for the Easter break. Many thanks to everyone who contributed to this colourful pageant.
