International Duke of Edinburgh Award
Some of our year 12 students have been practising their camp craft skills in preparation for the expedition aspect of the International Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award.
The two day over-night camp included educating the students on how to select a location to camp, how to pitch their tents, planning a journey and how to efficiently pack everything you need for your expedition. The Victoria Fire Service joined us to deliver training on fire safety & building and cooking on a camp fire.
After a reasonable night’s sleep and a very early start, the students completed a 5 hour hike that commenced at school and took them to the top of the Capolia Trail and return.
All students successfully completed the exhausting experience and are now looking forward to the ‘assessed expedition’ which is planned for July.
