World Ocean Day Challenges 2021
The Ocean Day theme for 2021 was ‘Life and Livelihoods’. Seychelles Island life is linked to the ocean around it. Oceans cover 70% of the planet and we celebrated World Oceans Day in order to remind everyone of the major role the oceans have in everyday life. It is a day to celebrate together the beauty, the wealth and the promise of the ocean. Students in ISS were asked to draw or design a 2D or 3 D underwater world. Many pupils are inspired by the Indian Ocean that surrounds us and produced some amazing pictures and 3D art works both at home and in the Art classes.
Students were also challenged to have a plastic free day and many families wrote to say they had achieved this goal. Many thanks to those families and to others in ISS who sent in photos of our beautiful Indian Ocean and who picked up litter to help our polluted seas.
