Year 2 excitedly headed to the International Airport. The excitement was not because they were boarding a plane but were meeting the people who keep the runway safe and finding out about the amazing jobs of the airport firefighters.
Everyone was awestruck to see the power of the hose capable of knocking a person clean off their feet. The highlight of the trip was the runway drive in the fire engine cab and seeing the foam pour out.
Thankfully the crew weren’t needed to extinguish a burning plane but were demonstrating for the children while carrying out one of their regular training exercises. Many thanks to the Chief officer Mike, Sub officer Dave and the Firemen for a thrilling morning. These are people who really do help us!
