ISS offers a wholeheartedly welcoming place and a genuine sense of belonging for our community: all pupils, all staff and all families; without exception, without exclusion. We are a community where everyone is supported by knowing their intrinsic value. Establishing this culture of acceptance, diversity and inclusion is essential to the school’s ethos.
All schools have a duty to remove any factor that might present a hindrance to a child’s fulfilment, and to prevent pupils from having their self-worth diminished or their ability to achieve impeded by bullying of any kind. We do not all have to agree, of course. Inclusion education teaches us how to disagree well, and to coexist kindly, with our different perspectives.
Diversity has always been an ISS strength, and the range of nations, religions and home backgrounds represented in the school is considerable.
ISS educates pupils to understand the rights of all people to live freely within their identity, without discrimination, and to do otherwise would be to fail in our duty to prepare pupils for life in the wider world.
