Our Vision
Inclusion Services at International School Seychelles
At International School Seychelles, we are dedicated to fostering an inclusive learning environment where every student is supported in reaching their full potential. Our Inclusion Services ensure that all students, regardless of their individual needs, receive the necessary resources and support to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Types of inclusion support offered
Special Educational Needs (SEN)
We provide specialised support for students with learning differences or disabilities. Our dedicated staff work closely with these students, adapting teaching methods and materials to meet their unique learning needs. This may include small group sessions, or tailored accommodations to create a supportive learning environment.
Additional Learning Needs (ALN)
For students who experience challenges with specific aspects of learning, such as reading, writing, or mathematics, we offer targeted interventions. These students may receive extra support in the classroom or through group programmes designed to address their particular needs.
English as an Additional Language (EAL)
We recognise that language can be a barrier for students whose first language is not English. Our EAL support helps these students enhance their language skills to succeed academically and socially. We provide additional language instruction and strategies to build fluency and confidence in English.
Able, Gifted, and Talented (AGT)
We are committed to nurturing the talents of students who excel in academic, creative, or leadership areas. Through our Super Curriculum, we offer extended learning opportunities, enrichment activities, and mentorship programmes to challenge and inspire these students. Our goal is to encourage their intellectual curiosity and ensure they are engaged and motivated to reach their highest potential.
Social-Emotional and Wellbeing Support
We understand the importance of emotional and social development in a student’s success. Our team offers counselling to help students build resilience, manage stress, and develop positive relationships. We also provide guidance on navigating social and emotional challenges, ensuring that every student feels supported and valued.
Access arrangements for examinations and learning support
We are committed to ensuring that all students have equal opportunities to demonstrate their abilities in both examinations and everyday learning. Students with specific learning needs, medical conditions, or disabilities may be eligible for access arrangements for IGCSE and A Level examinations, as well as for regular classroom assessments and learning activities. These arrangements, approved by examination boards and school staff as needed, may include extra time, the use of a reader or scribe, rest breaks, or modified materials. Our Inclusion team works closely with teachers, parents, and examination bodies to assess and apply for the necessary accommodations, ensuring that students can perform to the best of their abilities under fair conditions.
How to access support
If you would like to explore the support available for your child, we encourage you to reach out to your child’s class teacher or form tutor. Our team will assess the best approach and work collaboratively with you and your child to ensure the most effective support is provided.
