PSD Programme-Primary
As a mixed international school, we have a particular responsibility for ensuring that students are equally respectful of men and of women, of any nationality, and of themselves, so that they become responsible citizens. As such, we offer a carefully planned programme to enable students to develop the skills and ability to flourish in an increasingly complex world. We help students embrace the challenges of pursuing a happy and successful adult life.
An important and necessary part of all pupils’ education is the teaching of Personal Social Development (PSD). Our programme focuses on developing the knowledge, skills and attributes to keep young people healthy and safe, to prepare them for secondary school and to encourage respect for other people. In addition, we actively promote the values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
The school provides a holistic, whole-school approach to Relationships and Sex Education (RSE). Whilst some aspects of this course are delivered through the core curriculum, the majority of the syllabus is built into our PSD programme due to the complementary nature of both courses.
Pupils access the PSD curriculum via lessons, assemblies, lectures and workshops. PSD lessons are the primary medium of delivery. PSD lessons supplement lectures by external and in-house experts on RSE and PSD topics, and throughout the academic year are embedded with the key themes of identity, responsibility and wellbeing.
