Welcome Back To The Second Term

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome back to the second term of the 2015-2016 academic year. We hope that you and your family have had an enjoyable festive season.

We are excited to commence this new term and this New Year on a positive note as we welcome new members of staff to make our full cohort. Mr. Bruce Gage, is our new Head teacher for Primary. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education (Primary/Junior) and a Master’s degree in Education (Elementary Education). Mr. Gage has had extensive experience in Canada as well as Japan. Mrs. Louise Larvin is our new English teacher. She holds a BA in English, Post-Graduate Diploma in the Special Applications of Linguistics and GTP in teaching secondary English to Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. Mrs. Larvin has worked in Australia as well as UK. Mrs. Deborah Bicknell is our new science teacher. She holds a BSc in Meteorology and a PGCE in Physics. She has worked in the UK. Mrs. Alecia Rossouw is our new primary teacher replacing Ms. Nicola Taylor. She is from South Africa and she holds a Bachelor degree in Education in Early Childhood Development.

Last term we saw our students involved in many activities including the chess, basketball and the swimming competitions. Several local trips were also organised to strengthen curriculum links. Our teachers have been involved in networking with other schools on Mahe as well as Praslin. Our junior and EC Christmas shows were hugely successful.

As we start the new term, we wish to invite parents and guardians to participate in our parental involvement programme; further information is available on the website and at school.

We anticipated that this term we would see all students in their complete new uniform. We are aware that a few students who need bigger sizes are still having some difficulties accessing the bottom part of the uniform. We have managed to source out one seamstress who has similar materials and who can sew the bottoms. If your child falls into this category, please contact Josianne on 2781407.

As we continue to finalise the schools’ various policies and guidelines, we look forward to your support in ensuring that students come to school early, properly attired with the right attitude to school and to learning.

We wish all of you and your family a prosperous 2016. Please do not hesitate to contact us for any support or concerns.

Best regards

Mrs Pillay
